Song: Down Hampton Way

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: Really nice head motive and some sweet piano voicings / harmony around it. Superb guitar solo too!

Constructive Comments: It’s got the band in a box syndrome–the ride cymbal is very loud and non-human with a cheesy sound, same for bass and the keys. This a really nice composition –it’d be great to hear it with a real combo!!!

Positive Comments: I listened twice to this to make sure I felt the same way the second time around as I did the first. So having said that there aren’t many songs I listen to on broadjam that give me the goosebumps but this one did. Full,of emotion with a great melody. The female singer just has the right feel and voice and does a great job, really love the voice. The strings are lush and well arranged.

Constructive Comments: If I had to be critical I don’t think the piano sound did the vocal full justice and while the male vocal worked well with the female I thought on its own it wasn’t needed musically

Positive Comments: Moody piano piece, perhaps in Sonata type form or something similar. Suitable certainly for moody introspective scene, maybe involving despair or resignation. Well played, should sell somewhere.

Constructive Comments: Piano sounds very nice, string samples are ” ok “, overall has a somewhat Beethoven like feel and I initially flashed on Moonlight Sonata. It’s well done as is, but if i had any criticism at all it might be that by comparison to something like Moonlight Sonata the melody is not really thematic or clearly and profoundly developed. But that is of course an extremely high bar to set.

Positive Comments: Loved the snare beat and sound as well the guitar tones. Good vocal delivery snappy and in sync with the backing sound and style. Took me back with the overall production with its punky vibe. See this sitting well in a live set and having some with it to

Constructive Comments: Only one thing when the singer shifts octave I would have got the backing ramped up with it as a final outro but that’s just a personal preference – overall a good job and a fun listen

Song: Hung Up On You (female vocals)

Positive Comments: Really nice vocal quality here on the lead. Kinda Maria Muldaur vibe. Really nice guitar tone and rhythm chord choices. I like this more with each listen. The oo oohs are great. It reminds a lot of “Hopeless Devoted” by Olivia Newton-John. Nice work!

Constructive Comments: The guitar part is really great but I think you’re leaning on it too much. I’d roll the bass freqs on the guitar back and bring it down and more to one side in the mix. Add a 2nd guitar part that’s more arpeggio oriented or even single note parts with a soft, trebly tone. I think the bass could be more active and working more with the drums and going counter to the guitar chord rhythms to add more complexity and texture in the mix. Drums could give so much more. Keys are so necessary on a tune like this. The intro feels like you’re coming in the middle of something. Maybe a drum fill and some sort of intro figure that gives more of a real intro before settling into the verse. Or maybe it just needs more of a turnaround after those first measures. The backup vocals with words (not the oohs which are great) aren’t nearly on the level of the lead vocal quality and those synth horn stabs are probably best left out because they sound too cheesy (why does it have to be so impossible to get good horn samples in a tune? frustrates me a lot in my tunes)

Positive Comments: Love the opening piano vocal start, singers voice is retro, cool and smokey and with a smooth delivery, really liked it. Top marks for the lyrical content really enjoyed the story. There is a lot of feeling both from the singer and the piano and overall production

Constructive Comments: My only critique was the breakdown with the piano coming back in for the song was strong enough to finish it before that

Positive Comments: I didn’t want to like this because I didn’t enjoy the choice of sounds but it’s a good song with good lyrics. The singer has a great voice and in my opinion does not need it wrapped up in synth patches. She sings with feel and expressed the lyrics well and to be fair what is played musically I liked and worked especially the piano licks

Constructive Comments: Like I said not my choice in terms of sounds and instrumentation but it still works and would love to hear a more acoustic version of this track

Positive Comments: Singer reminds me of the midnight oil and wheatus singers and no disrespect both good singers and the vocal delivery is good on this track. I like the lyrics tells a story using some good lines. The production is quite minimal and the guitar work stands out well and compliments without competing with the singer. Clever song and in delivered in a way that is not ott I really liked this

Constructive Comments: Nothing in yer,s of production etc, I thought the instrumentation was right for the track and singers voice cut through clearly

Song: Nothing You Can Say

Reviewer: lost on foot

Positive Comments: Good into and first verse, full of mood and with some dark sounds behind the vocals it was a great mood setter. Very dramatic guitars with some good harmonies in the bridge. The guitar in the second verse really moved the song on and the synth built the track up as it progressedSinger has a good voice that suited the song perfectly and the delivery got the mood and message over really wellSong is produced well and. All the parts are mixed well with the vocals sitting on top of the music.strong track, well produced and sung well

Constructive Comments: Nothing to criticize this works and creates a mood you can identify with
