Song: BEFORE THE WORLD STOPS SPINNIN!

Reviewer: David James

Positive Comments: Really nicely put together. I love the retro style including the rudimentary stereo. The instrumentation and production has a loose quality that really suits the song. Authentic rhythm track and lovely brass arrangement. I like the vocal interaction between the lead singer and the other musicians and the final piano tinkles at the end of the song.

Constructive Comments: I think the lead vocal is a bit too low in the mix, with the result that I didn’t catch all of the lyrics. But otherwise it’s excellent and worth pitching for the appropriate industry listing.

Positive Comments: Nicely recorded. I like the impact of the 12 string? as the song starts. A compelling vocal that sells the song. Nice percussion and bass. Strong chord progression. Powerful lyric idea.

Constructive Comments: I feel the song needs more instrumental variation to build the tune to a crescendo to hammer home the lyric message more light and shade for want of a better term. A bridge to take the song in a different direction temporarily would also add tension and release to the same effect.

Song: Gotta Do Something

Reviewer: Chet Nichols

Positive Comments: Very nice recording and arrangement. Quality instrumentation and VERY solid mix. Love the lead changes and the in-and-out fills by different instruments. Nice lyrics and message. Solid contemporary Folk tune. Clearly, the song is great for an album, but would also have various uses in film and TV opportunities….. Nice job!

Constructive Comments: Don’t have much to add. This is a quality song all the way around. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with this one.

Positive Comments: Nice clean recording. Simple and engaging arrangement. Quality instrumentation. A good track for a TV show or film. Nice backing track for media opportunities. Has a retro 50’s-60’s vibe to it. Also, has fun, almost humorous feel to it.

Constructive Comments: The song seems to have two sections. The front end has more of a country feel to it and then the back end has a simple country blues flavor to it. I don’t hear this as being a Chicago Blues track. This is a nice track, but I would nudge up the bass a notch or two and move the drums more out front. Would I be wrong to think that this song has lyrics and that this version is an instrumental “lift” form that track?Anyway, best of luck and thanks for sharing….

Reviewer: David James

Positive Comments: The vibe of the song is lovely. Great instrumentation..excellent percussion and a super acoustic and electric guitar solos. Strong vocal and good use of backing vocals. The song builds cleverly. The Hispanic/Latin ambience is great. The song has the feel of some of the material on Kate Bush’s ‘aerial’ album.

Constructive Comments: I like the ‘blood and air’ idea but I didn’t get the essence of the meaning of the song from the lyrics. Otherwise it’s a very strong track.

Positive Comments: A cool, island beat and minor key instrumentation set this song up nicely. It’s a brainiac’s song with a lot of imagery related to nature/weather. The lyric writing is thoughtful. “Remember that we share the same blood and air.” That’s the strongest element of the lyrics…it’s a great hook. Every instrument played is top notch and it’s a flawless mix. I especially like the bass riffs. Great job!

Constructive Comments: I could tell that you worked really hard on the lyrics. Like I said they are well-thought out. It’s just that, well, after two listens…I still didn’t get how this whole song fits together. I understand the “Remember that we share..” hook…it’s GREAT. But how does it relate to the rest of the lyrics? That’s what I could not figure out. Maybe if I read the lyrics….

Positive Comments: I absolutely love this song! My guess is that you wrote it for a real person that you know. If you didn’t, well, you sure convinced me, anyway. The lyric writing is top notch and the melody and guitar playing are just perfect for this tune. My favorite rhymes are soars/floor. Page/stage. I just love the lyrics the story is completely real and believable…the perfect ingredients for a five star country song. The word pictures in verse one set the song up nicely and the chorus and hook, instrumentation and production are phenomenal. Great job, songwriter!

Constructive Comments: Even though I gave this song high marks, I have a couple of comments. The chorus is great and I totally understand the overlaps. BUT maybe they would sound better if the secondary vocal coming in was “coming from another place” or a little gentler than the strong primary vocal. Instead of complementing each other, they seemed like they were competing with each other. Another possibility might be a bit of a female vocal backup…but I am not so sure about that suggestion. The OOOooo part might sound a little better with a gentler sound…but now I am getting way too picky. Anyway, after I finish this review I am sending this song to a friend of mine who is a dancer. I bet she’ll love it. I sure did!
