Positive Comments: 5 Stars for The beginning measures. I’m in and with you. Attitude and spacey in a modern exotic way. A groovy groove and tempo. The vox delivery and lyrics are grabbing me in the right place in my brain and senses. Billboard 40 baby…this tune is going far at lightning speed. Some tasty guitar throughout the tune. I am a fan!

Constructive Comments: The production, performances, and musicianship are all really good for this tune. Bam, ended quick. Going for another listen. This one is ready for an indie or feature film, tv show. Feels good – with insightful lyrics delivered with much more than the same old. Enjoying the vocal treatment and the mix with the guitar.

Positive Comments: Definitely a 12 bar blues.

Constructive Comments: Jamming a pentatonic scale over a 12 bar blues form for a few minutes isn’t really the blues, or a song, or even really music. There is no melody to speak of, no lyrics, and there is nothing here that musically justifies a 3 minute guitar solo.

Song: Blue Music Sax & Background Vocal

Reviewer: Dave Haddad (CenterPeace)

Positive Comments: Sade type intro never gets old for me. Then through in a little Marvin Gaye…. Very nice use of mood setting with the sax, very pleasing tone and performance. Most excellent playing… when the vocals join in it makes the song feel more jubilant and happy. Love the little vocal backs interjecting throughout. I think the accompaniment in this song is just right… good mix and quality sounds blending very well. Then comes steel string acoustic up front around 3 minutes, nice change up. Great effects on the sax, just the right reverb and delay!! Lovely mix

Constructive Comments: Looking…. for …. something to critique. Sounds like maybe the song wasn’t mastered it is overall slightly bassy. Could use just a touch of brightness, a little more presence. maybe a slight upper mid boost or cut around 100hz – 200hz. Just a thought. LOVED THE SONG!

Positive Comments: Intro made me think of an old western movie theme, very quality sounds. Good job making the drum samples swing, it’s very hard to do jazz music without using live drums. Drums however are placed very well in the mix. Pleasant song all the way down to the long fade. I like the feel of the brush drum set. You utilized your sounds and vibe extraordinarily on this piece, really created an ambiance of mystic, sex appeal and intrigue.

Constructive Comments: Sounds like maybe a lot of samples used in this song. Mix is slightly bassy, could use a little less bass overall and the bass guitar is slightly about the other instruments. The vocal is not very clear, could use something to give it a little more bite… more compression and a slight boost in the upper mid-range eq.

Positive Comments: Great use of outstanding sounds. Cool groove composed ‘in the box’, makes me bop in my seat. Mike Stern style fusion with a little Joe Sample thrown in, I like that. Tasty piano riffing!! Insane bass lines…. this guy knows what’s up!! Plenty of sweet sounds and changes in this song without any unsettledness, very smooth transitions which were all musically pleasing.

Constructive Comments: My only constructive so far is that the song goes a bunch of different places but never settles in on any one theme. It’s like everyone says a thing or two and the tune just keeps progressing and never repeated a theme or melody. Could be great for move placement or video, you’ll have luck with this piece!! At 1:30 I was expecting a melody but got more groove, solos and fx. Establishing a theme is not the idea here, I get it. I didn’t hear a hook so I didn’t score in the category.

Positive Comments: Good intro, professional sounding. Really nice grooving live tracks, all the way down to the shaker! Good playing, love hearing real players!! Outstanding melodies going on throughout. Great to hear a knowledgeable and musical composition. Nice breakdown around 3:05. Good song, I enjoy hearing jazz like this, best of luck!!

Constructive Comments: Mix seems bass heavy, if you clear out some sub-frequencies 20kh – 60hz there won’t be so much rumble and it will be easier to hear the crispness of the instruments. So ‘tape damage’ or low end feedback around 2:20… Maybe this was not mastered. Guitar solo at 3:30 is buried, needs the tone brightened up. Ok, obviously this is an old recording with sonic issues, I can’t help point them out, it is part of my critique process. No negative scoring on the song because of this. The lead instrument in the 1:30 section is also underneath the accompaniment…. Lot’s of mix issues which hurts this above average composition. A little too much happening musically in a few sections… Piano, organ, percussion, guitar and bass solo. It’s groovy but a bit too many at the party at times for me.
