Positive Comments: I love the percussion and overall mood of this song. It floats around a few interesting themes and instruments but has a cohesiveness to it. A bit jazz, a bit world beat. It is definitely a cool listen. I like the use of some unusual sounds and percussive instruments, although I suspect they are all synthesized, as opposed to live, which might have given a more earthy vibe to it. The sax is well-played, too. The jibbery voices add nicely to the mix, somewhat other-worldish but grounded like some of the stuff Enigma used to do – really cool.
Constructive Comments: While I think this song has a great sound to it, I am less inclined to think it has a very large “market” appeal to it. I could hear it in a cool concert or on a decent album, but it is not really danceable, it would not lend itself to any film or scene that I can think of. Its changes are cool, but there isn’t an overarching emotion it invokes in my mind. I’m sure it has a niche, I am just not sure what it would be.
