SABOR A MI & KUESSE IM PARK – 2013 – OSKAR CHRISTIAN by Oskar Christian

Broadjam Artist: Oskar Christian
Song: SABOR A MI & KUESSE IM PARK – 2013 – OSKAR CHRISTIAN

Reviewer: Saul Anthony

Positive Comments: Very nice song. Like the Brazilian Jazz feel.

Constructive Comments: There is something about the mix that bothers me, and I can’t pinpoint it. Perhaps it’s because there is so much going on. The guiro is too loud. Perhaps the percussion could come up in the mix.

Positive Comments: I love this. It reminds me of some of the great jazz that came out of the 70’s, ie Grover Washington Jr. (if it had some sax). Nice guitar and piano performance, great solos!!! Just a fun song to listen to. I bet it was fun recording.

Constructive Comments: I really like this song the way it is. Don’t change a thing. (Of course being a sax player myself, it would be nice to hear some sax on this)

Positive Comments: Very nice!!! Great piano work!! Nice arrangement. This is something I could listen to as I sit on my deck with a martini in hand.

Constructive Comments: I very much dislike the drum sound. You would do so much better with real drums or a better patch. That is really my only criticism.

Positive Comments: Great guitars!! Like the changes. The vocals are very nice an not pitchy at all. Nice song!!!

Constructive Comments: The piano sound sounds like a cheap piano, it would be nice to have a better sounding piano sound. The guitars are great!! The vocals could come down a little in the mix.

Song: Separate Roads

Positive Comments: The song started out great, but I am certainly missing a melody. Another instrument such as Sax or Trumpet would go great on this. I love the rhythm tracks. Well recorded and performed.

Constructive Comments: This could be one of my favorite songs but IMHO, it is unfinished. It needs a melody, perhaps Sax, or Muted Trumpet. Love the solo. Please please add a melodic instrument. If not for those reasons I would have given it all 5s but I can’t the way it is.

Positive Comments: Now this is what I’m talking about. Great song. I would buy this in a minute. As a matter of fact, I am going to look up this when I am done and see if it is available. There are so many songs here on Broadjam the needs a lot of work, but this song is perfect in every way. Great musicianship. The guitar is totally awesome. Kind of reminds me of Pat Methenys song “Every Day I Thank You” (without Michael Brecker) on his album 80/81.

Constructive Comments: Absolutely phenomenal!!! You can’t change perfect. I refuse to criticize this song. Nothing to criticize, LOL. Great melody, changes, voicings, and arrangement. Thank you, thank you thank you!!

Positive Comments: Great mix. The song, as far as instrumentation goes, is simple and direct. Not too much added, which is just what this song is all about. Great musicianship. When the song first started I wasn’t sure if the category was right for this song, but as the piano chords came in, the dissonance proved me wrong. Nice changes and voicings.

Constructive Comments: How can I give you any criticism at all when the song is fine just the way it is? If I tried to intervene with what you recorded, It would ruin the song.

Positive Comments: The hook is very catchy, sounds cool with the harmonies in 2nd chorus also the reggae feel is also good, invokes a warm summery vibe. The instrumentation is excellent also, a nice blend of instruments. The instruments are very well played and the are well mixed in the track. This track could do well in a film or advert

Constructive Comments: Not not sure about how well the vocal fits with the track, the attitude and delivery of the vocal however is very good and suite the mood of the track.

Song: Reach out your hand

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: You start out with an attention grabbing driving rock rhythm guitar. This is Randal of course, and as always there’s a very meaningful message with heartfelt conviction and passion.

Constructive Comments: I’d argue for going for more smooth melodic guitar lead lines without so much delay, and just go for a nice smooth melody and tone. I think you should work within the limits of your voice and don’t go for shots you can’t make. There’s nothing wrong with being more spoken –the long held notes aren’t working very well in this one.

Positive Comments: I like the unexpected direction the bassline takes, the rhythm is good and very danceable. The track sounds very well mixed on the whole, all the instruments are well balanced

Constructive Comments: This kick drum lacks a bit of definition on laptop speakers, increasing the mid harmonics on the kick can make it stand out more on small speaks, also not too sure if vocal fit to well with this track overall a good house track
