Song: Con Man Beth Woods
Reviewer: Kate Carpenter
Positive Comments: This folksinger is an excellent storyteller. She tells a story of a (rotten) con man who married her (after a month) and ruined her life until she gathered her wits and took off. Every verse is carefully crafted, very original lyrics. Beautiful, crystal clear vocals and nice guitar accompaniment. This song doesn’t need much more to make it shine, really. My favorite lyrics: “gave you my heart/lost my head” “buried deep in debt and snockered like before” “cradled up my broken heart and set out on my own” I hope this song will be a good warning to vulnerable females out there.
Constructive Comments: This song reminds me of the old adage “marry in haste/repent in leisure”. Work on a more conclusive ending in your production. That’s the only fault I could find with this absolutely great ballad! Keep the great music coming!
