Broadjam Artist: Donovan Tucker
Song: Sophie’s Blues (Instrumental)
Reviewer: Marie Jarreau
Positive Comments: I love the over all classic feel of this instrumental work. That familiar sad sack, low-down, “my baby done left me all alone” drone hits the heartstrings just right! I believe Albert King would be proud of this arrangement.
Constructive Comments: I think the arrangement is right where it needs to be, except for the very ending that just seems to fall away. As much as that sometimes happens in this kind of a blues song that ending even though falling away I believe could have a stronger structure there. I actually did find myself improvising some lyrics to this tune, and believe it would be easy to come up with a sad story that follows this classic blues tune.
