Positive Comments: This is one of the most beautiful father to son love songs that I have ever heard. The honesty of the performance, the choice of words and metaphor blend to make this one of those memorable songs. Hear it once and you’ll never forget it. It’s so AUTHENTIC! Favorite lyric “righteous/rebellious” – fantastic. Also love: fireflies in a jar/shining star. Great dads love their sons through it all and this song communicates that so poignantly. Every word is crystal clear – great performance. I really love the vocal delivery – this guy has a great voice! There is a tenderness infused with power. The love really comes through.
Constructive Comments: Guitar is pretty, but not perfect. There’s a bit of tinniness to it that might be fixed by different miking, or the touch of a good producer to give it a little more depth. Home/roam is a nice rhyme but somewhat over-used. Another way to improve this song would be to have a definable/memorable chorus. Intro is too long. Work on the ending. Take some of that beautiful guitar playing in the front end and create a lovely ending to make the song go out more gracefully. I definitely want to hear more from this artist!
