Broadjam Artist: SRJ
Song: Zen (To the Power) [SRJ Electro-Funk Remix]
Reviewer: Floyd Kelly
Positive Comments: I like to play this kind of music when I’m having jam swirling contests here at home, when we mix jams and colors on toast. Jesse says he would like to hear this when he’s doing his downhill snow skiing – he likes to go fast. Lisa says she likes to listen to this kind of music when she’s taking dramatic selfies, practicing her cheerleader routines and for splashing paint on canvas in the backyard. Gunther says he got into a groove – swiping really fast on Tinder while listening to this music.
Constructive Comments: This seems to be a standard electronic beat and it’s obvious work went into this piece and my hats are off to you – cuz I know work goes into music! I do think more is needed in this piece to bring it away from “standard” and “stand out” instead. The vocals could be enhanced some. I think some changes in the kick drum towards the beginning in order to keep the listener curious would be nice. The bass depth is appropriate for this style of music. I thought that big ethereal entrance around the 2:14 mark could have been done better in the spatial field. I loved that funky guitar that should be considered to use in the intro area of the piece – if you ever do a remix. I listened to this twice during my review I think a break is needed in the piece, to rest the ear and set up a big funky wunky environment for the listener. I think the ending could have been more dramatic. Have a happy new year.
