The groove is rather compelling for a lyrical hook &#8220;If I Had My Own Way&#8221;. I like the philosophical lyrical content. It is almost prayer-like. The use of the clean electric guitar and the counterpoint synthesizers is effective and not distracting. <\/p>\n<p><b>Constructive Comments: <\/b>The only constructive comments I can provide relate to the end of the piece, and some of the synth patch tones selected. The upper register &#8220;Had My Way&#8221; seems a bit out-of-character as it appears rather abruptly. This is my personal taste showing and is not meant as a negative. The use of the synthesizer counter-point tones are a bit dated. I said above that the synth tones are not distracting. They aren&#8217;t. However, I would have used a more &#8220;real sounding&#8221; synth patch, i.e., a piano or Hammond organ tone. The lead vocal reminds me of Bruce Springsteen. Again, that&#8217;s not a negative.
