It is a well written song  though highly and overtly sentimental, which for me does not work. However, I&#8217;m certain their are many people for whom it can work if you get it in front of them. I&#8217;d say this is tailor made for a county pop audience of mostly elderly and middle aged people with children and grandchildren. Maybe even in the background of something like a Hallmark greeting card commercial showing grandparents and grandchildren, kids playing with dogs and so forth.
