The theme/topic is good, and there are some really good melody and lyric moments. I like the implied 12/8 feel. The “umm hummm” just before the chorus is a really good moment–it’s a completely effective prechorus with just two syllables. I really like the way the changes move underneath “think I’ll stick to drinking and *hanging*” –that’s a really tasty spot there. This needs some tweaks yet, according to my highly sought after industry veteran opinion (chuckle), but it’s good really good bones!

Constructive Comments: The vocal is too far back and there’s too much reverb that makes it lose intimacy and presence. Your vocal delivery is a bit stilted on the verses–it sounds like you’re a step or two low for your voice. The phrasing is very plodding in the verses–it could use some rhythmic variety and natural emphasis. Definitely lose that 80’s hard rock guitar solo–it just doesn’t fit the style & current sensibilities–it sounds like Brian May goes to Nashville.

Broadjam Artist: James Beck
Song: In Love With Love

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: I’ve heard this one before outside the review process.
