Zimbabwe by Nigel Barrett

Nigel Barrett

Broadjam Artist: Nigel Barrett
Song: Zimbabwe

Reviewer: CAEDMON’S DREAM

Positive Comments: * Sequenced synth intro starts tune nicely* Lead vocal has unique & memorable quality * Instrumentation/arrangement is full and lush * Drums/rhythm track keeps a good groove tight bass!* Tasty key modulations and instrumental hooks * Great closing piece for a TV/Movie/Documentary

Constructive Comments: + could add a couple guitar parts just for variation+ as song develops idea of conflict/despair, can this be represented with a tempo/rhythm/feel change (1/2 X break)?+ swirling keys are ethereal, put them at key parts so they don’t become blase+ add “ethnic/regional” sounds if available

Broadjam Artist: Richard Walker
Song: Waiting

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: Really nice baritone vocals that remind me of Ron Sexsmith, as does the song. Maybe Rufus Wainwright a bit too. Good production, playing, and arrangement. You’ve borrowed The Beatles’ “Listen” in the progression which will make it familiar but not so close that it’s a copy.

Constructive Comments: The bass is overpowering with a loud low end. It needs to be backed down and thinned out a bit.

Positive Comments: Very nice! That’s a nice tune, nice playing, great harmonies.

Constructive Comments: The mix needs a little adjustment. Bring the vocals out a little more, smooth out the drums and rhythm section a bit. But, you have a nice little tune here, it’s definitely a keeper!

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Broadjam Artist: Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods
Song: A Cold Blade Tells / Blues Rock

Reviewer: Marc S. Pate

Positive Comments: Great guitar tone. Tasty and sparse, I like that.

Constructive Comments: It’s very well done, don’t have much. But, just thinking maybe a cold stop, or two, would add a nice contrast.

Hold The Mic Down – Tha Bishop featuring Phaze Seven & Daz Jones by Husky Records LLC

Song: Hold The Mic Down – Tha Bishop featuring Phaze Seven & Daz Jones

Reviewer: Jeff Roberts

Positive Comments: I was going to say the backing instrumentals sound like a stereo playing in the background, but then it kicks in with real sound. This is very heavy and ominous, and the groove is really catchy. Very effective. I’m not current on Rap but this reminds me a lot of Ludacris (first voice).

Constructive Comments: Niggas, violence, and alpha male law of the jungle essence throughout the lyrics. Yeah it’s what sells but is it lifting the people up? That’s a philsophical critique. Musically this is solid.
