Song: Can’t We Stand At The River

Positive Comments: This sister has a beautiful voice, perfect for this slightly jazzy, bluesy-sounding gospel song. The vocal is perfectly executed…technically and also with feeling. The piano accompaniment is very beautifully done and suits the song nicely. Favorite rhyme: parade/handmade.

Constructive Comments: The introduction is a bit long. The lyrics, I think, need some work. There seems to be a lack of cohesion…what exactly is the message you are trying to convey? The chorus is longer than the verses. That’s not a make-it-or-break it, but I’m looking for something that makes real sense. Sometimes we songwriters are searching for what rhymes…but the words we choose need to make sense too. You can take my comments with a grain of salt. I’m not trying to be overly critical, but I just didn’t get it.
