The House By The Rose / Country by Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Uncle Spider & The Electric Dirt Clods

Song: The House By The Rose / Country

Positive Comments: Good current contemporary country sound. Nice recording and nice harmonies.

Constructive Comments: I try not to make a song to complex in the melody or lyric. I think an audience is keen on how a smooth a song sounds and how complex the story may sound in the message. Its easy for us as writers to know what we are saying or trying to say in a song because we have all of those thoughts in our heads. But the audience has only one chance to catch the story when they hear it the first time. Simple works best but with clever approaches in telling a story with memorable melodies. You may want to find a more subtle way in the story to say someone has passed (rather than “Dead”). Your audience will get the idea if you have a more clever approach. “Holes in the Floor of Heaven” by Steve Wariner is a great example of this. Hard to pinpoint what the hook was in the song, super important in this tough music market. Enjoyed your passion, best.
