I Can Always Count On You by Rachel Joy

Song: I Can Always Count On You

Reviewer: Simon Finn

Positive Comments: 1. Nice writing in an unusual time-signature 2. Loved the first chords of the chorus. 3. Nice use of light and shade.

Constructive Comments: 1. Shorted the introduction. Means you get to your hooks faster..you should be there within the first minute. 2. Apply some vocal tuning and reverb to sit the vocal in the mix 3. Trim the second verse – or introduce a bridge – you have four repetitions of the same long phrase. 4. There are some strange melody and harmony combinations in the end of the each chorus which could be improved.

Without You by FRED GROSS

Positive Comments: There were not surprises in the harmonies or melodies here but I really liked the way the song was put together – it was familiar (as a pop song should be) but also original. Again, there are no surprises in the lyrics, and plenty cliches, but they tell a simple story honestly and deliver a single emotion effectively, so it works. Best song I reviewed today.

Constructive Comments: My only comment would be that the rhythmic playing between drums, bass and guitar needs tightening a little. the patterns overlaid didn’t lift in the same way so it leaves you with a slight feeling of sea-sickness.

Positive Comments: I like the the picking style with very few mistakes.

Constructive Comments: The recording is really rough, I wish you could record it again with better software, I think a flute would sound good with this song – best wishes!

Positive Comments: Very beautiful lead vocals and backing vocals as well. I really like how the instruments blend together and sound of the drums and bass guitar.

Constructive Comments: Beautiful song, I think it has great potential however, I think the vocals need to be turned up just a little and I also think a lead guitar riff would give the song a little more uummph – best wishes!

Positive Comments: I like the sound of the drums and the guitar work, I also think the arrangement is excellent.

Constructive Comments: The recording is very rough however, I think the lead vocals need to be turned up just a bit because I can’t hear all the lyrics. So, I would record this again and add a lead guitar solo as well, because I think the song does have potential – best wishes!

Reviewer: RICARDO ALONSO

Positive Comments: the song has a good melody. singer puts feeling in this interpretation

Constructive Comments: overall produ ction is dull, voice needs treatment, and sometimes is out of tune. lyrics are too repetitive, a change in tempo or rhythm could enhance the song.
